News Update December 23rd, 2006

Hello!

It’s been a while since this site has been updated, so before the onslaught of turkey and mince pies begins, we thought it would be a good idea to let you know what’s happening in the world o the Scuffers.

On Saturday 16th we achieved an ambition of sorts, to play the Barrowlands. Along with the amazing Dead Beat Club and The State Broadcasters, we played to a decent crowd who were well up for a good bit of honky tonk, and the show went down well. Big up to the Whitburn massive who lapped up the occasion big style, and thanks to the chaps at the Barras for putting us on. The Barras gig marked the debut for our new Texan harmony vocalist, Rebecca McChesney, who has brought a whole load of life back into the songs. Couple this with the sterling banjo and mandolin playing of our second most recent addition, Dochan McMillan, and you have a recipe for something very special. One of the crowd remarked at the Barras that Mr McMillan bears a striking resemblance to Eric Bristow, but I can assure you he is no crafty cockney!

We are also extremely excited to say that we have been back into the studio to record a track for a promotional CD for next February’s Goatfest at Barfly. We were invited by the mighty Trav of Podboy records to do the track which is being produced by Chris Gorman, and we hope to be able to put the track on our myspace site very soon. We have chosen to record ‘Rollin on Home’ for the CD, which our loyal followers will be familiar with, having played the track many times live. This is the first time the track has been recorded in the studio.

Anyway Scuffrajettes, that’s all for now. Catch us if you can at a gig in the New Year.

Love, The Scuffers x
